Oh, the comfort in a warm, homemade buttermilk biscuit ...

Sure it takes work. Advance planning if only to make sure you have powdered buttermilk, chilled unsalted butter and Crisco. Plan!! 


Some days NOTHING hits the empty, forelorn spot quite like the feel of a hot from the oven homemade buttermilk biscuit slathered in butter and drizzled with a spoonful of wild honey from Trader Joe's or a local bee farmer. 


Yesterday happened to not only be one of those days, but purely coincidental that my work assignment for the week for the Valley Forge Catering Company included homemade buttermilk biscuits and southern style cornbread. 


I love my job!
